ENCOURAGE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR CHANGES
Providers and patients alike can benefit from integration of apps within the Healthsystems. Mental health apps such as mehealth for ADHD, integrate within the patient EHR system allowing communication to teachers and family (Oracle, 2022). The app view suggests easy use of integration within Cerner’s PowerChart EHR, following initial input, the tool automatically sends initial communication to family and teachers to participate with the child's treatment. Continuity of care is made easier with access to “parent-facing” (Oracle, 2022) portal to view clinical progress of the child's treatment. ADHD specialists at CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) report 900 active users participating in the study of mehealth for ADHD application at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (2022). The more users means access to more data. Active tracking of behavioral changes can provide more accurate treatment. The goal of this software, mehealth for ADHD is to improve pediatric care with routine communication. Funding from the NIHM was reportedly given (CHADD) to support the adoption of mhealth software, therefore, a parent can bring this software to their provider’s attention with no fee to clinicians.
From an administrator or physician perspective, care is made easier if the application is implemented on a regular basis. Teacher and parent reports are available to rate, then being easily summarized for the users to assess. Effective use of the software relies on routine inputting of data, or ratings in this case. To ensure efficacy of care, it’s important for all parties to understand the efforts applied to a health and wellness journey.
